Halloween & Fireworks Night - Keepings Pets Safe

While these autumn celebrations can be fun for people, they can often be stressful and even dangerous for pets.

Halloween:

  • Costumes and visitors – The constant doorbell ringing and people in unusual costumes can make pets anxious. Keep them in a quiet room away from the front door.

  • Sweets and chocolate – Many Halloween treats are toxic to pets, especially chocolate and anything containing xylitol. Always store sweets safely out of reach.

  • Decorations – Candles, wires, and small objects can pose risks if chewed or knocked over.

Fireworks Night:

  • Loud bangs and flashes can be frightening for animals, causing them to panic, hide, or even run away.

  • Close windows, curtains, and doors to reduce noise and flashes.

  • Provide a safe, cosy hiding place where your pet feels secure.

  • Play background noise, such as the TV or radio, to help mask firework sounds.

If your pet struggles with noise phobias, speak to us in advance. We can give advice on calming techniques, pheromone products, or other options to make the season less stressful.

Your pet’s safety and wellbeing always come first – if you’re worried, please get in touch with our team.
