Out of Hours Emergencies

Highfield Veterinary Surgery is not a 24 hour hospital

This means that any animals kept in the surgery overnight, do not have a member of staff with them overnight.  Animals are monitored by a video link and Vets and/or Nurses visit as felt necessary.

We therefore use the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals (also know as RVC) as our "Out of hours" cover.  When the surgery closes at 7pm Monday to Friday, until 8.30am, and from 1pm on Saturday until 8.30am on Monday.  They also provide full emergency cover for all bank holidays.

Please note that The Queen Mother Hospital for Animals is only available for advice and emergency treatment “out of hours”.

Fees

A consult fee of £120 not including treatment, is currently charged by the QMH.  Payment is required at the time of your pet's discharge, direct to the QMH.

An estimate will be given for costs of the consultation and further treatment, if necessary. Take your pet insurance documentation including a claims form with you.

Reporting

We will receive a faxed report about your pets condition and treatment, the next working day following your emergency visit.

Transport

If you require transport for your pet to the QMH, please phone:
